Domestic and Family Violence Policy
Vic Graders is committed to providing a safe and supportive workplace for all employees. We recognize that domestic and family violence is a serious issue that affects many individuals and families. As such, we have developed this policy to provide guidance and support to our employees who may be impacted by domestic and family violence.
Purpose
The purpose of this policy is to outline our commitment to preventing and addressing domestic and family violence in the workplace. It also aims to provide a safe and supportive environment for employees who may be experiencing domestic and family violence.
Definition
Domestic and family violence includes any behavior that is used to gain or maintain power and control over a current or former partner or family member. This behavior may include physical, sexual, emotional, and financial abuse, as well as stalking and harassment.
Responsibilities
Vic Graders is committed to providing a safe and supportive work environment for all employees. As such, we have the following responsibilities:
– To provide training and education to all employees on the impacts of domestic and family violence
– To provide support and assistance to employees who may be experiencing domestic and family violence
– To ensure that all incidents of domestic and family violence are taken seriously and addressed promptly
– To maintain confidentiality for employees who disclose experiences of domestic and family violence
– To take disciplinary action against any employee who engages in domestic and family violence
Support for Employees
Vic Graders will provide support to any employee who is experiencing domestic and family violence. This support may include:
– Providing access to counseling and support services
– Providing flexible work arrangements, such as changes to work hours or location
– Providing information and referrals to external support services
– Providing access to paid leave, such as personal leave or domestic violence leave
Responding to Domestic and Family Violence
Vic Graders takes all incidents of domestic and family violence seriously. If an employee discloses an experience of domestic and family violence, we will:
– Provide a safe and supportive environment for the employee to disclose their experience
– Ensure that the employee’s safety is the first priority
– Provide access to counseling and support services
– Provide information and referrals to external support services
– Develop a safety plan for the employee, if necessary
– Take appropriate disciplinary action against any employee who engages in domestic and family violence
Confidentiality
Vic Graders will maintain confidentiality for any employee who discloses an experience of domestic and family violence. We will only share information on a need-to-know basis, and only with the employee’s consent.
Training and Education
Vic Graders will provide training and education to all employees on the impacts of domestic and family violence. This training will include:
– Recognizing the signs and symptoms of domestic and family violence
– Responding to disclosures of domestic and family violence
– Providing support to employees who may be experiencing domestic and family violence
– Understanding the legal obligations of employers in relation to domestic and family violence
Review
This policy will be reviewed regularly to ensure that it meets the needs of our employees and complies with any changes to Australian laws.
